Wow! Did we have a busy but awesome day today. We had little Andrew's 2nd birthday party in the morning and then we were invited to go to Mai's mango farm to pick mangoes.
Andrew's party was first on the agenda. Here's the Birthday Boy, himself....looking all curly and cute :)
The little party people....they sure know to have lots of fun, especially when there's a whole room full of toys! Even Baby Jordan is in awe of the multitude of terrific toys that Andrew has.
The must-have pinata.....fully loaded with lollies. All the little people had a go although with not much luck at causing major damage. Aunty Ross had to step in to give the train pinata a good whack for the shower of lollies to happen.
Despite daddy's persuasion to give the pinata a hit, Alyssa cleverly declined. She explained that she'd rather be ready to swoop in on the falling lollies than to use her energy on hitting the pinata. What a bright-spark she is.
Here they are mad-dashing around scrambling for sweet treasure, Alyssa ending up with her two hands full of sweet stash.
The birthday cake....wow! Super wow! Aunty Ross really outdid herself and any other cake decorators I know. Is this cake impressive or what, especially when it is Andrew's mummy's own masterpiece. Hmmm....now I know who to go to for a birthday cake creation.

Later that afternoon, we headed out to Mai's family's mango farm to "pick" mangoes.
Now, let me tell you, we've known that Mai's family is in the fresh produce business and we've seen their products at the markets in Darwin, and supermarkets in other cities interstate. We've never been to her parents' farm. She talks about it and I always imagined it to be like a kampung shack in an orchard of mango trees and there would be lots of workers plucking mangoes from tree to tree. When we got there, we were blown out of our minds! There was this big "warehouse" steel shed housing cleaning, sorting and packing machinery and stacks upon stacks of packed mangoes all ready for exportation.
Rodney here is trying to show off his machine-handling skills :)
We are totally blown away by the scale of Mai's mango farming business.
The kids had fun entertaining themselves with games and tv in one of the lounge demountables.
Chloe scored herself a huge mango...as big as her face!
Brandon opted for the more cutesy ones...baby-sized mangoes.
How long do you think this lot will last us? We can eat all the mangoes till the cows come home. So far no need for Imodium....fingers-crossed. Until next week - Round Two ;)
What do you call friends like these? Greedy? Hoarders? Freeloaders? Naahhh...we just love our mangoes.
So this is the actual mango 'picking' that we did. No tree-climbing or walking through mozzie-ridden orchard plucking mangoes from trees or picking fallen ones from the ground. We literally 'picked' the mangoes out of the container.
This was our 'pick'. Too bad we didn't drive our Hilux out there or else we would've had a bigger stash! As if eight crates wasn't enough for us. We are a greedy lot...yea.
