Junior Lion Dance Uniform Presentation

June 23rd was the start of month-long mid-year holidays. It was also the day when the CWS junior lion-dancers were presented with their own training t-shirts personalised with their individual nicknames. It is exciting for the boys as it gives them a sense of belonging into the club. Makes them feel important too.

It was a simple and fuss-free night especially for the juniors and their family and friends at the Chung Wah hall. We started off with a pot-luck dinner. Every family had to bring a dish and we've all done pretty well that night as we have quite a spread. I brought my "chew-pai" (famous) Malaysian curry chicken and it was a hit!

After our feeding frenzy (:D) the juniors sat patiently awaiting for the presentation to begin.

Spot Brandon's shirt. It's a no-brainer really.

The four musketeers showing off their new uniform. The only original one would be Brycen's Mushu.

Here they are starting off their performance with a salutation.

Brandon and Ollie's individual performance. This is the first time they are doing it on the trestle so I was a little bit nervous watching them. They fumbled a little during their interchange and I had a bit of a heart palpitation as they jumped on and off the trestle. It was all in good effort and we're so proud of the boys. Brandon and Ollie just need to work on their coordination to make their lion look more 'real'.

Even little bro Jordan and sis Alyssa had so much fun at the Junior's family gathering.

Besides. daddy bought him this lion all the way from Singapore so he has no excuse not to practise at home. Brandon and Ollie performed for his class and Alyssa's class during the last day of school semester. The teachers and kids were impressed. Some teachers and children from different classes even came over to watch.

I think I spotted a chicken curry sifu sitting at the back row in a blue polo shirt.I'm sure she could still remember the taste of chicken curry cooked in a claypot. The taste is not better but different. It is like cooking chicken curry using different types of potatoes. The best ones are the ones named "fest kochende Kartoffeln" up here. The curry sauce will be soaked into the potatoes giving it a very tasty lemak taste. And eating the curry a day after, taste even better.
What the ......,the column is about lion dance, kung fu and more and I'm only thinking of eating.Sorry folks, the strength really comes from the stomach and stamina from training. And to get there we sometimes need the famous Malaysian chicken curry.
But don't forget about the famous Malaysian sit ups after eating!Haven't heard of it?.....it is usually done with a group of only 4 persons.Sometimes when no kaki,it can also be done with a group of 3.Just like backhome,2 pampas samsengs on a kapchai is already called a gang.
