It is my prerogative to shout out loud because I'm a Proud Mama!
proud [praʊd]
adj
1. (foll by of, an infinitive, or a clause) pleased or satisfied, as with oneself, one's possessions, achievements, etc, or with another person, his or her achievements, qualities, etc.
2. characterized by or proceeding from a sense of pride a proud moment
That is the formal definition. Then there's the feeling....a cocktail mix of adrenalin rush, heart palpitation, elation, shaky hands, eyes watery with joy, euphoria, and perhaps more. I was in this state when Brandon's school principal handed me an invitation - a special invitation to an awards presentation.
It is the fact that he scored High Distinction for the University of Canberra's Australian Mathematics competition and he is one of the top 2% of participating students Australia-wide to get high distinction. His principal was extra pleased with him because he is the only pupil in his school to score a high distinction. Hence, she received a personal invitation because of him to represent the school. How can I not be proud of this achievement? I'm so proud that I just want to brag to the whole world of my little professor :)
Much that he is a witty clown and sometimes a sooky-la-la (cry-baby, siew hei goong), the clockworks of his brain absolutely astound us. He has the natural ability to preceive and understand with ease. Must be the Omega-3 in the breastmilk and formula that he fed on as a baby :) :) I might add that he's quick-witted about life in general too. Intelligent, yet entertaining. Inspite of this, he would simply refer to himself as a Nerd. I think it's his humble way of saying that he is a smart boy without bragging.
In addition to the Australian Maths competition, he also sat for the University of New South Wales' Science, Spelling, English and Maths competition. So far, he has done us proud by obtaining a Distinction for Science. Two down, three to go.
If his high scores in Maths and Science, and his artwork in building a Mars Rover are anything to go by, my little proffesor may end up at NASA as an astronautics engineer. Oh and the future spacecraft that he builds has to be environmentally friendly....on earth and outer space. Brains and greenie at heart.
After all this, I am not forgetting Chloe as well who recently received her Year 7 National Assessment Program results. She came out sitting at the top 20% of all Year 7 students Australia-wide. Her results graph shows that her scores are in the 80 percentile which is above her school and national average.
Well done, kids! Mum and dad are very proud of you. Keep up the good work.

please Brandon, help us, help Angie(and my tax money). We need help badly and from young kids. All the robots/parrots and graduates from top universities in this world could not mend the financial crisis. No one has a formula, only tralala and blablabla like a bunch of humpty DUMBty.
Well done Brandon! Maths genius in the house.
Uncle Chong all the truly smart kids take the road that Bill Gates, Steve Jobs or Warren Buffet take. The leftover wannabes end up as pollies who like to hear themselves go tralala and blablabla. I do feel sorry for Angie though. How to recover so much money from a sunk ship??? What a burden on her.
Edith, all the smart guys like Gates, the late Jobs and Buffet are also Querdenker(lateral thinker).Only people who can "think outside the box" will come out with great inventions or can solve problems very easily.
Steve Jobs said,"death is the best invention!"
To me,"life is the best experiment!"
Even how rich, smart and famous a person will be in the future, when they are greedy, tricky and malicious,THEY ARE LOST and will end up in a one way street to perdition. That was what your grandfather use to tell me when I was a kid.
What Angie is doing(she has no choice)is like what Ah Foo(a guy from an island)who wanted to do to me in the 70's,only with a small difference.I was not a Greek and not broke, just a "T'ng Lung KIA.This was the short conversation.
"Wah, long time no see ah,when you can to spend me?"
"Bo lui lah(no money lah)!"
"Here,i lend you first lah and you can pay me later!"
This guy made a lot of fast cash, but had lost a lot of good friends and went back to the island of his birth where the mat sallehs filled their canons with silver coins and shoot them direct into their pockets(if the history book is telling the truth).Humans are born with a lot of imagination and fantasy,do you agree?
Angie's situation is an Utopia, but she has no choice.70% of her export is to the European market and Greece is one of her customer. So she has to lend money like Ah Foo in order to survive.
