Scientist Alyssa

Alyssa's Year One class conducted a Science Fair and invited parents to come along to watch them perform various scientific experiments they've learnt during the term.

It was very clever how her teacher put the Science Fair together and many of the families enjoyed watching the children play and learn. Plus the children learnt a lot by doing the experiments "hands on" and watching results unfold. Secretly though, I was glad that the "mess" they created was in-class and not at home ;)

First off, creating static electricity. This wasn't that difficult as our winter weather was cold and dry. It didn't take too long for electric charged objects to make her hair stand!

Then there was the 'volcano eruption' that she was to create. I must admit that it was simple to do and fun to watch.

Lastly, the funnest of all the experiments.....MAKING ICE-CREAM! YAY!

Put all the ice-cream ingredients (I can't reiterate what they were as I wasn't paying attention) in a ziplock bag, and put that in a bigger bag filled with ice and shake it with all your might! Of course, in the grown-up world, you'd have an ice-cream making machine or there's McDonald's soft serve for 30 cents each.

Aaahhhh....finally able to enjoy their fruits cream of labour.

Even the little Jordan had fun discovering the dinosaurs. Actually, he 'discovered' the button on the dinosaurs that make the most annoying sounds. Guess that's why he loves them so much! He even tried to impress Felicity with them and it worked. She was impressed :)

He tried to do an experiment of his own. Will the rubbery dinosaurs scare the little garden lizard away? By the looks of how fast he ran away, I think not.
