First feather in her cap.

This morning when HD dropped the kids off at school, Alyssa's teacher informed him that she'll be receiving an award today. Yay! Her first Merit Certificate and our second award for the year. So excitedly we got baby ready in time for the school assembly.

The second surprise. Unexpectedly, HD got called up to present the certificates to the award recipients. He was 'important' enough to present the awards because he is the newly elected Treasurer of the School Council. You can tell that it was unexpected as he wasn't dressed for the occasion and looked absolutely dishevelled. Actually, he took that day off and was wearing his 'home' clothes (as in, something he would wear to mow the lawn!!) Oh well, we'll just put it as the Territorian dress code and leave it as that.

In any case, it was special and meaningful that he got to present our daughter with a Merit Certificate. Uh, you can see a bit of Baby J's slobber on his shirt too!

My feral child....she even stands like a 'samseng'.

Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the smallest of them all?

Not only that...her class won the Bin Buster award as well for being the cleanest and tidiest classroom for the week.

She was awarded for her excellent writing and drawing skills.

This artwork and writing in particular was mentioned and showcased in the school's weekly newsletter. The week before, the Parap Pumper Jumpers and Northbridge Knockouts (skipping and jump rope callisthenics and dance) performed for the children during the previous assembly. Our little Alyssa was so impressed that she 'wrote' about it for her recount exercise.

Please excuse the chunk of alphabets in her soup book. Her teacher had to decode her encryption for the benefit of us readers :) Alyssa is very good with her illustrations. She can tell a story just by her drawings. One page contained huge colourful hearts signifying how much she loves skipping. Then the next page features what she saw during the performance. Note the bent legs of the characters in jumping motion. Great details! Can't credit her much with her colouring though...like cakar ayam. Hmmmm.

Nevertheless, we are very proud of her skill. Good thing about her is that she loves drawing so much that she can sit by herself for hours and draw. Give her a stack of papers and colouring pencils/pens and she's in her element.
