Good Friday

Today is Good Friday. The first day of a five-day long weekend, including Easter Monday and ANZAC Day public holiday. It's a great day for chillaxin', which is practically what we did. Chloe, Brandon and daddy were watching TV while the two little rugrats decided to cause a bit of commotion on the piano in the lounge.

I don't know what's with the tongue. It seems it's Baby J's favourite thing to do today. Perhaps, it's his way of concentration power. Whichever....it's soooooo cute!

After hitting the chords...literally... for about a half hour, they settled down to quiet time and did some drawing. Aaahhh....truly therapeutic day.

Even Baby J got a bit of art happening there....with the accompaniment of The Tongue :)

Yesterday, at school, the Early Years Learners had an Easter Bonnet Parade. All the littlies made creative Easter Bonnets to wear and they paraded around the school wishing everyone else Happy Easter. Our Miss Midget was truly excited...striking a pose before she set off to greet the 'big kids'.

Here's kor-kor waiting patiently with Nick by their classroom for the little ones to parade pass.

Then it's off to the assembly hall for some Easter songs and performances.

Slight tilt of the head for mummy to showcase her beautifully decorated plate on the head, err, bonnet.

Of course, we can't leave out the customary Easter Hokey-Pokey dance. Please excuse the sulking Miss Moo. She got upset because someone accidentally knocked her bonnet lopsided. *Sigh* Doesn't take much to set her off.

Before long she was all smiles again....thanks to Mr Easter Bunny who secretly hopped into their classroom and placed yummy, chocolatey Easter eggs into their pretty handmade baskets. Alyssa scored two Easter eggs because she "accidentally" made two baskets. Hmmm....very tricky!

Note the poppy flower attached to one of her "baskets". It is part of the commemoration of ANZAC Day on April 25th, the day the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landed on the banks of Gallipoli during World War I. The red poppy has become a familiar symbol of Remembrance Day. These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in World War I, their brilliant red colour an appropriate symbol for the blood spilt in the war. ~information about the significance of poppy supplied by Brandon and Chloe~
